All About Cells!

Hey Grade 8's!

                                                                     Retrieved From

Now that we are moving into our unit on Cells, we will specifically be exploring the theory of cells and the structure and function of both plant and animal cells. In Cell Command, you ill become captain of a "cell ship" embarking and completing a series of exciting missions that bring you throughout the body with your crew! You will begin by operating one station and as you continue to play and build your knowledge of the cell, you will eventually command all the ship's functions (aka the cell's functions).

 Parents,

In this unit students are focusing on the structure and function of cells in plants and animals!  Cell Command will provide a unique, fun, and informative journey in developing a deep understanding of the function of the cell. The game will allow each student to explore the cell and build their knowledge at their own pace and will be accessible at home! This game will allow students to better understand the content in a new and meaningful way!

Some of the curriculum expectations that are included:

3.1 demonstrate an understanding of the postulates of the cell theory (e.g., the cell is the basic unit of life; all cells come from pre-existing cells; all living things are made up of one or more cells)

3.2 identify structures and organelles in cells, including the nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, vacuole, mitochondria, and cytoplasm, and explain the basic functions of each
